Excitement is in the air with the construction of the Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre which is set to open in 2026 on the Geelong Waterfront precinct, creating a lively centrepiece in the heart of our beautiful city!
With a 1000-seat theatre and 3700 square metres of welcoming space for a variety of events, it is a wonderful addition to our Geelong-Bellarine region! The Nyaal Banyul Geelong Convention and Event Centre precinct will support 1,450 jobs during construction and an additional 700 ongoing jobs once complete.
In the surrounding precinct, there will be a focus on sustainability, accessibility and making a climate-positive impact and elevating Geelong's/Djilang's allure with retail shops, a variety of fabulous eateries, as well as a large public plaza.
The new venue is part of the Geelong City Deal - a partnership between the Australian and Victorian Governments with the City of Greater Geelong. The Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Trust will operate the Centre once it is complete.
