Experience the magic of Geelong at the beautiful Waterfront in the form of the beautifully restored Carousel.
Amazingly the Armitage-Herschell portable steam driven, hand-carved wooden carousel was constructed circa 1892 and is one of only 200 in operation around the world. Featuring 36 Dare horses and 2 chariots, it was purchased by the Steampacket Place Development Board in 1996 and painstakingly restored.
In conjunction with a joint team formed by the Victorian State Government and the City of Greater Geelong they undertook the $30 million revitalisation of the entire Geelong Waterfront from 1995 to 2000.
The Carousel is an ideal accessible meeting place for the community; with an emphasis in providing a memorable experience for all ages and abilities.
Along with improved access to the pavilion, was the welcome installation of a mobility lift and recharge point. The mobility lift enables a wheelchair to go on the Carousel ride and was specially designed to respect and complement the history of the Carousel.
This unique venue can also be hired for special events to capture the essence of the beautiful Geelong Waterfront. Available from 3pm, 7 days a week; its the perfect all weather option.
OPENING HOURS:
The Carousel Pavilion is open all year around, with hours varying depending on the time of year.
Visit from October to March-Monday to Friday from 10:30am to 5:00pm
Saturday and Sunday from 10:30am to 6:00pm
Please note that hours are subject to change depending on private events booked. The last Carousel ride of the day is held no later than 10 minutes prior to closing time on the respective day (listed above).

Multi ride passes available for $45
